Seeds with wings

A fun nature table activity for our theme 'Things that fly'  

Find seeds that have little ‘wings’ that fly you can put them on the table. Dandelions also have seeds that ‘fly’.

Ask the children why they think the seeds have these little wings on them.

Explain to the children that the seeds are like that so that when they are ready to leave the parent plant the wind can take them to a place far from their parent plant to grow. This is the way that plants can spread from place to place.

Let the children play with the seeds to see how they fly.
