Drug abuse and emotional resilience in children
Just saw on tweets that Richard Branson is talking about the global drug problem and global policy being a failure. I agree totally but what I want to say is this:
Emotionally resilient children in stable, emotionally healthy families/ family groupings are so much less likely to get involved in crime of any sort or to become drug users, dealers, prostitutes etc.
The best way to make children emotionally resilient is to make sure they form a good, secure attachment to whoever is their main caregiver from birth. And that that relationship continues until the child become a functioning and emotionally healthy adult!
Flying Children wants all our children to get good parenting and good pre-schooling in their most important formative years – the first 5 years!!!
So we hope to eventually introduce moms and tots type groups in our poorest areas (and other parenting support) to help struggling to be a parent parents become parents! (notice the number of parents in that sentence!)
