    There has been a bit of a hiatus in my life – with me having a burst appendix and complications to do with that and it is a whole month since I have been able to do any real work. So that is the reason for the gap in the blogs.

    Toys have names…

    Today I was helping an ECD practitioner sort out her educational toy area. I asked, “Where are your puzzles?” and she pointed to the duplo. One takes so much for granted. There is language to contend with as most modern toys have Western names (or Eastern ones increasingly).

    Enter the Flying Children Programme!

    Yesterday we had a work day for Khanya and Entlantleni (we try to have work days each term). Tyres were placed and painted, jungle gyms were given facelifts, the toilet areas were also painted colourfully and shelves were made. Even some of the little ones got involved.

    Challenging doctor’s visits

    I had an interesting experience on Monday the 12th. I took three children to St John’s Eye Hospital in Soweto, leaving home at 5am.
